Puerto Rico’s 2016 Miss Universe contestant has been stripped of her crown after revealing in an interview that she did not like being in front of the camera. Kristhielee Caride, 24, shocked competition officials when she told a Puerto Rican newspaper: ‘I just do not like cameras’. Desiree Lowry, the national director of Miss Universe Puerto Rico, said she wanted the earth to swallow her as she witnessed the controversial interview.
‘I saw the damage that she was doing and the damage that she was doing to the organization,’ Lowry said during a press conference on Thursday. ‘Miss Puerto Rico is a public figure and part of your job is to be in front of the camera.’
