Mother of lady killed by boyfriend addresses people saying her daughter tolerated domestic violence because the man was “providing for her”

A Kenyan woman, Connie Muuru, who lost her daughter, Sharon, to domestic violence, has debunked insinuations that the deceased tolerated abuse because the man was providing for her.

According to Connie, her late daughter was a hardworking lady and never depended on any man to provide for her.

She further revealed that her daughter and Salim were in fact living together in Sharon’s apartment.

“I WANT TO CLARIFY THAT MY LATE DAUGHTER JULIE SHARON MUTHONI, WASN’T LIVING IN THE HOUSE OF THE MAN WHO KILLED HER,” Connie wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

“IT’S THE MAN SALIM KIPRUTO SEREM,WHO MOVED INTO MY DAUGHTER’S APARTMENT. SHE WAS LIVING IN 360 APARTMENTS SYOKIMAU, WHEN THEY MET WITHIN THE SAME PLACE,IN 2015. FOR THOSE WHO CARE TO KNOW THAT LITTLE DETAIL, SHOULD GET RIGHT.

In Africa we believe that a Woman must be kept by a Man or provided for by a Man. I have no problem with that but there are so many women who provide for men too.

Many women have suffered untold pain, through domestic violence, because they believe that they can’t make it out there, without a Man.

I saw some comments on my post yesterday, people were suggesting that my daughter tolerated domestic violence to the point of death because the man was “providing for her”. That is incorrect. As a matter of fact, the man wasn’t working and it was my daughter providing for him.

We have so many people on Facebook who knew my daughter Sharon was a very hardworking and organized person and she never at any time, waited to be provided for by men.

I guess Sharon didn’t move out because they were living in her apartment therefore she expected him to be the one moving out but unfortunately she ended up losing her life.

“My advice to everyone is you should not put up with violence whether the property is yours or your partners, you should move out and save your life first because life can’t be recovered but properties can.”
