A Muslim man confronted a woman inside a public bus, urging her to stop eating because he was fasting, leading to a heated exchange between the pair.
In the footage, the woman was seen eating when the man’s voice could be heard, addressing her from nearby.
He complained that he could smell her food and insisted that she should stop eating out of respect for his fasting.
In response, the woman firmly stated that she was simply having her lunch and saw no reason why her meal should affect him.
However, the man persisted, suggesting that she should at least wait until she left the bus before eating.
His exact words were: “Excuse me, I can smell that. Do you mind eating that somewhere else? I’m fasting. Can’t you wait till you get off the bus?”
As the video spread online, social media users flooded the comment section with diverse reactions, sharing their opinions on the situation.
See some reactions below:
@Dr_BellaR: “I work with a lot of muslims. Not once has anyone ever asked me to NOT eat around them because they are fasting. This guys behaviour is the exception, not the norm. Don’t use this exception to justify your islamophobia.”
@Neo306: “I been on the buses in London and it’s prohibitive to eat drink or smoke on the bus and on the tube ( SubWay) it’s same ways buses back home. She wrong for eating on the bus . He wrong for is using Ramadan.”
@AtzeBitcoin: “Well I don’t no how it’s in the UK but in Germany it’s prohibited to eat in public transport besides restricted areas in trains and I prefer that too, as a non religious man. It’s not about Ramadan, it’s about general manners and respect. But I see the hypocrisy in the video. listen to words look at their actions.”
@GeorgeHclownwrl: “She’s right. Why should the rest of society have to change their behavior for the Islamists ? Just because you’re fasting doesn’t mean everyone has to change their behavior.”
@marcanthony99: “Fasting is a personal commitment, and if someone finds it difficult to tolerate the presence of food around them, they may need to reconsider their approach. Respect goes both ways, and others should not be expected to adjust their daily routines for one’s personal choices.”
@SadokChai: “If the Muslims have a problem with people eating on Ramadan, then they should go live in a Muslim country.”
