“My brother’s wife refused to make breakfast for my mum” — Lady seeks advice as family crisis deepens

A woman living abroad has cried out for advice after a disagreement between her mother and her brother’s wife caused serious tension within the family.

Postpartum tension sparks family dispute

The woman explained that the issue began after her sister-in-law stopped preparing breakfast for her mother, who had moved into the couple’s home to assist with childcare after the birth of a baby two months ago.

According to the lady, her brother’s wife returned from her parents’ home last month after childbirth, and their mother stayed with the couple to help care for the newborn.

However, trouble reportedly started at the end of April when the wife stopped making breakfast for the older woman.

The matter has since escalated into repeated family meetings and emotional arguments.

“If she can feed herself, it shouldn’t be a problem”

Speaking on the issue, the lady said she contacted her brother’s wife to understand what went wrong.

“She told me that if making breakfast is the only thing my mum can do for herself, then it shouldn’t be too much. She also said if someone cannot help her, they shouldn’t add to her burden,” she revealed.

The woman added that she was trying to remain fair despite pressure from both sides. “I don’t want to invalidate my mother’s feelings, but I also feel there may be more to the story because my brother’s wife recently gave birth and may be overwhelmed,” she said.

Family experts have repeatedly warned that postpartum stress and lack of communication often fuel domestic conflicts in many homes, especially where extended family members are involved.
