“My ex carried Jesus on her head but still ran me street” – Man cries out, shares painful experience

A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after opening up on his painful experience with his ex-girlfriend he described as deeply religious.

The man identified as @Theoladeledada on X (formerly Twitter) shared his story while reacting to a post that advised people to marry partners who genuinely know God and not just regular churchgoers.

“She Never Missed Church Programmes”

According to him, his ex-girlfriend appeared fully committed to her Christian faith and was active in several church activities.

He revealed that she regularly attended midnight programmes organised by Pastor Jerry’s wife, joined NSPPD prayers every morning, and never missed crusades whenever they were held in Lagos.

The man also disclosed that she attended church faithfully with him at Harvesters and always appeared passionate during worship sessions.

Despite all of this, he claimed she still treated him badly during the relationship.

“She Was the One Who Drew Me Closer to God”

Sharing more details, the man wrote: “I was dating a woman who attended Pastor Jerry’s wife program at midnight without fail. She joined NSPPD prayers every single morning. She never missed a crusade when they came to Lagos. On Sundays she was right there beside me at Harvesters, worshipping like the walls owed her something.

“She still ran me street.

“And the painful truth is, she was the one who dragged me closer to God in the first place.

“This is the thing nobody prepares you for. The devil doesn’t always show up looking like the devil. Sometimes he shows up carrying Jesus on his head like there’s no tomorrow. Tongues, early morning prayers, front row at every program, the whole package.

“Spirituality is not a guarantee. Consistency in church is not a guarantee. None of it is a playbook for who someone truly is behind closed doors. There is no formula to this thing called love. No checklist that secures you. No level of spiritual alignment that comes with a warranty.

“If a partner is going to be your downfall, they will be. They will do it in flying colors, without hesitation, without looking back, and they will probably be the most religious person in the room while doing it. Protect your heart. Pray, yes. But stay discerning. Character is revealed in time and in pressure, not in church attendance.”
