“My husband flogs me like small child” – Woman cries out

A Nigerian woman, Nnenna Osu, has approached the Customary Court in Nyanya, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), seeking the dissolution of her marriage to her husband Frank Osu, alleging that he flogs her like a child.

Nnenna Osu, a hairdresser recounted a harrowing story of abuse, asserting that her husband, Frank Osu, subjected her to physical harm resembling punishments meant for a child.

According to her, disagreements with her husband often escalated to him wielding a cane, leaving visible bruises on her body.

Adding financial betrayal to the list of grievances, Nnenna disclosed that her husband borrowed a substantial sum of N350,000 from her, promising to repay the loan.

However, instead of honouring the commitment, Frank Osu reportedly abandoned his family and left the country.

Surprisingly, Nnenna claimed that when she reached out to him, he callously instructed her to move on with her life, asserting that he had found a new spouse abroad.

The distressed woman, seeking a way out of the tumultuous marriage, pleaded with the court to grant her custody of their children, emphasizing that she could no longer endure the pain inflicted upon her.

In addition to the custody request, Nnenna appealed for a monthly upkeep of N50,000 and coverage of their children’s school fees, stating that her husband’s financial support was imperative.

During the court proceedings, it was noted that the respondent, Frank Osu, was conspicuously absent.

Recognizing the gravity of the allegations and the need for a comprehensive examination, the presiding judge adjourned the case until February 1.
