NYSC Has A Message for Prospective NYSC Batch ‘A’ 2016 (STREAM II) Corpers. Check It Out

Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released latest information on the status of prospective NYSC BATCH ‘A’ 2016 (STREAM II) corps members.
Following the postponement of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) BATCH ‘A’ 2016 (STREAM II) Orientation Course, prospective corps members have been told that the orientation course will start soon. NYSC management also said reports that it has scrapped the service are all lies.
A Statement from the NYSC Management in Abuja on Saturday said:

“Management wishes to inform prospective NYSC Corps members that, based on the assurance received from the Federal Government regarding release of funds, the 2016 Batch ‘A’ (Stream II) Orientation course will start soon.
“Date of commencement will soon be announced and Prospective Corps members are, therefore, requested to watch out for specific date of the exercise, which will be made public as soon as all necessary logistics for effective conduct of the orientation course are in place.
“NYSC Management empathizes with the affected prospective Corps members, and appeals for continued patience even as all efforts on the matter are fast expedited.
“Also, contrary to report on certain online and social media platform on the scmolesting of NYSC by the Federal Government, there is no single official or personality capable of scmolesting the NYSC Scheme. Usually, since NYSC was establish through a decree of the Government in 1973, it would have to be terminated through a constitutional amendment from the National Assembly. Members of the public are advised to not believe any information concerning scmolesting or termination of National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) scheme.
“The NYSC scheme was created in a bid to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war. The unfortunate antecedents in our national history gave impetus to the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps by decree No.24 of 22nd May 1973 which stated that the NYSC is being established “with a view to the proper encouragement and development of common ties among the youths of Nigeria and the promotion of national unity.”
“It was the need to look beyond the immediate present and to think of the future leadership of the country that necessitated the mobilization of certain categories of youths through the National Youth Service Corps Scheme. This was done with a view of giving them the proper guidance and orientation relevant to the needs of the country. The National Youth Service Corps Decree No. 24 which has now been repealed and replaced by Decree 51 of 16th June 1993, was then formally promulgated.
“A termination bill is not currently being reviewed or examined at any of the chambers of the National Assembly of Nigeria.”
