OFFICIAL: Matuidi Becomes 2nd Juventus Player Positive In Coronavirus Test

Juventus have announced that Blaise Matuidi is their second player to test positive for coronavirus after Daniele Rugani.

“Blaise Matuidi has undergone medical tests that have revealed his positivity to the Coronavirus-COVID-19,” read a statement.

“The player, as of Wednesday 11 March, has been in voluntary home isolation. He will continue to be monitored and will follow the same regime. He is well and is asymptomatic.”

Rugani was the first player in Serie A to test positive on March 11, sending 121 members of his club – including teammates and President Andrea Agnelli – into voluntary isolation.

He was soon followed by Manolo Gabbiadini of Sampdoria, then fellow Blucerchiati Morten Thorsby, Antonino La Gumina, Albin Ekdal, Fabio Depaoli and Bartosz Bereszynski.

Fiorentina had Dusan Vlahovic, Patrick Cutrone and German Pezzella test positive, along with two members of their medical staff.
