Ozil Sends Message To Germany Coach After 6-0 Spain Thumping

Mesut Ozil has offered Germany boss Joachim Low some advice after he watched his country ship six against Spain.

A hat-trick from Manchester City’s Ferran Torres helped the Spaniards scored three in each half.

The Germans had topped their Nations League group and only needed to secure a point, but instead endured a nightmare evening.

Low’s starting XI included the likes of Manuel Neuer, Ilkay Gundogan and Leroy Sane – but it was the absence of a centre-half that Ozil commented on.

Ozil tweeted: “Time to take Jerome Boateng back”.

It has been a hectic season so far – so make sure you don’t miss a single thing by signing up for the brilliant new Mirror Football newsletter!

The veteran defender helped Germany win the World Cup back in 2014 and has 76 caps.

Boateng remains a regular with Bayern Munich, although they have opted against renewing his contract, but Low chose to begin embedding the next generation.

As a result the centre-half was told his services were no longer required.

But in the aftermath of such a humiliating defeat questions will inevitably asked of Low.

“I really don’t know what happened to the team,” he said after the match.

“We had hardly any chances and we didn’t win a single individual battle out on the pitch.

“In the second half we tried to press them high up the pitch to score and get back into the game but Spain played far better than us, they were much faster and played with more precision.”

Ozil himself has retired from international football and hit out at the treatment he received.

“The treatment I have received from the DFB and many others makes me no longer want to wear the German national team shirt,” he posted on Instagram.

“I feel unwanted and think that what I have achieved since my international debut in 2009 has been forgotten.”
