President Bola Tinubu met with former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan in Ghana on Tuesday.
According to reports, Tinubu and the former Nigerian leaders were among the dignitaries present at the swearing-in of Ghana’s new president, John Mahama.
The Nigerian leaders were seen exchanging warm handshakes during the ceremony in Accra.
President Tinubu assured Mahama of Nigeria’s steadfast support in driving national development and strengthening ties between the two West African nations. He made the statement during Mahama’s inauguration, following his victory in Ghana’s presidential election.
Mahama’s win ended two terms of leadership by the New Patriotic Party under outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo. His main rival, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat after the December 8 elections.
Speaking at the event, Tinubu highlighted the importance of cooperation between Nigeria and Ghana, expressing hope that Mahama’s presidency would usher in a new era of shared prosperity.
The ceremony, attended by African and global leaders, celebrated Ghana’s peaceful transition of power and its reputation for democratic stability.
