The management of the Plateau University, Bokkos, has suspended academic activities for 10 days over the killing of a second-year student of the institution.
Mr Yakubu Ayuba, the Registrar of the institution, made this known in Jos in a statement on Saturday, April 20.
Gunmen, on Thursday night, April 18, attacked Chikam, a neighbouring community to the university, killing a student, identified as Dading Jordan.
Ayuba said the university had earlier declared a two-day mourning in honour of the slain student.
”Following the sad incident that occurred in Plateau University, Bokkos, and the surrounding communities, management has taken the painful decision to close the University for 10 days with effect from Friday, April 19.
”This decision is to allow the security situation to improve and reduce human risk in the university community.
”Accordingly, the ongoing first semester examinations are hereby suspended and will resume on Thursday, May 2,” he said.
The registrar said buses had been provided to convey students who may be stranded from the university to Barkin Ladi.
