Spokesperson of the command, who made this known in a statement on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, said victim was rescued unhurt, while many of the terrorists fled with gunshot wounds.

Two terrorists have been neutralized by men of the Katsina State Police Command while repelling attacks on two communities.

During the operation, an abducted victim was rescued by the operatives.

Spokesperson of the command, who made this known in a statement on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, said victim was rescued unhurt, while many of the terrorists fled with gunshot wounds.

He said that the police were presently combing the area for the injured hoodlums and those likely to have died.

“On 12/2/2023 at about 0445hrs, a distress call has received that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 riffles, attacked Kitibawa village, Dutsinma LGA and kidnapped one Alhaji Ado Rumawa, M, aged 55yrs of the same address” the statement read.

‘‘Consequently, Area Commander, Dutsinma, led Police patrol team to the area and engaged the terrorists in a gun duel. The team succeeded in repelling the terrorists and one of them was neutralized. And the kidnap victim was rescued unhurt. Many of the terrorists were suspected to have fled the scene with gunshots wounds. Police team are presently combing the area with a view of arresting the injured hoodlums and/or recovery of their dead bodies. Investigation is ongoing,”

The spokesman said another terrorist was neutralised along Danja-Bakori road while robbing members of the public of their valuables.

‘‘Similarly, on the same date at about 0135hrs, a distress call was received that terrorists, numbering about twenty (20), armed with dangerous weapons, blocked Danja  Bakori road, along Unguwan Balarabe junction, robbing unsuspecting members of the public of their belongings. DPO Danja Division, led a police patrol team to the area and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel” he stated.

‘‘The team successfully, repelled the terrorists, which forced them to abandoned their heinous mission and fled the scene with various degrees of injuries. In the course scanning the scene, one suspected terrorists was neutralized. A cutlass, three (3) mobile phones, and a stick were recovered at the scene by the police during search. Investigation is ongoing.”
