Police Rescue 302 Kidnap Victims, Arrest 100 Suspects (Video)

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has made significant strides in its ongoing fight against crime, dismantling multiple criminal syndicates, recovering a cache of 134 firearms, and rescuing 302 victims of kidnapping across the country.

Speaking at a press briefing on January 22, 2025, at the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) headquarters, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, highlighted these achievements as part of the police’s enhanced strategies to safeguard lives and property.

The Force recorded remarkable results in the fight against various crimes, arresting 179 armed robbery suspects, 100 kidnapping suspects, 152 murder suspects, 34 individuals for unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, 77 rape suspects, and 110 suspected cultists. Additionally, 73 firearms, 310 rounds of ammunition, and 56 stolen vehicles were recovered during recent operations.

Among the major breakthroughs, the police apprehended a gang led by Muhammed Kabir, 36, who, along with accomplices Donald Okpere and Haruna Ibrahim, impersonated military personnel to defraud victims of millions of naira using fake bank alerts to purchase gadgets and medical equipment.

In another operation, the police arrested Sunday Okwo Ade, Monday Solomon, David Emmanuel, and Shakiru Badmus, members of a notorious group specializing in motorcycle theft from farmers in Lagos and Ogun states. Fifteen stolen motorcycles were recovered from the suspects.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun praised the efforts of officers and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to its core mission of protecting citizens and ensuring justice. He emphasized the importance of creating a peaceful environment for Nigerians to conduct their daily activities without fear.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its pursuit of criminal elements and will continue to ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law,” the IGP stated.

The Force called on the public to remain vigilant and supportive of its efforts, underscoring that collaboration with citizens is crucial to sustaining the momentum in combating crime.
