Popular Nigerian Drummer, Ekene, Aka Awolo Eky D, Is Dead

Popular Nigerian drummer, Ekene, better known as Awolo Eky D, has passed on.

Ekene was one of the drummers who played on Gospel singer Sinach’s team. He played “I Know Who I Am” for Sinach.

Drum Guruz announced his death on Facebook, writing: “It’s so shocking right now knowing one among great Nigeria drummer is isn’t with us in this world any more Uncle Awolo Eky D. All moments with you can never be forgotten and you have left with us great and amazing things we won’t ever forget keep resting in Peace sir. We love you but God loves you most.”

Sinach took to Instagram on Sunday night March 12, to mourn him, writing: “Rest in the arms of Jesus! This is so hard. Thank you again and again Ekky!!”
