Presiding Officer Assists Voters in Kano State Polling Unit, Causes Stir Among Party Agents (Video)

As the Nigerian presidential election continues across the country, reports have emerged of a presiding officer allegedly aiding voters in the polling process. The incident reportedly occurred in a polling unit in Kano state, where the presiding officer was seen assisting elderly and illiterate voters.

According to eyewitnesses, the presiding officer’s actions were seen as a noble gesture by some voters who were grateful for the help. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which is overseeing the election, has issued a statement in response to the incident. INEC spokesperson Festus Okoye stated that the commission is aware of the reports and is investigating the matter. He reiterated that INEC is committed to ensuring a free, fair, and credible election and will not tolerate any actions that could compromise the integrity of the process.

It is worth noting that under Nigerian electoral laws, presiding officers are not permitted to assist voters in any way.
