In a statement on Sunday, SERAP’s deputy director, Kolawole Oluwadare urged Buhari to ensure that those responsible were probed and prosecuted.
President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, to use his office as the minister of petroleum resources to establish a panel of enquiry to probe the allegations of the missing 149 million barrels of crude oil.
Recall that a document in the 2019 audited reports by the Auditor General of the Federation and Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), revealed that 146 million barrels of crude oil is missing.
In a statement on Sunday, SERAP’s deputy director, Kolawole Oluwadare urged Buhari to ensure that those responsible were probed and prosecuted.
The group said Buhari’s government has 7 days to commence the probe or face legal action.
“As the President and substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources, you and your government need to prioritise getting to the root of these allegations and use the remainder of your term of office to ensure justice and accountability for these serious crimes against the Nigerian people”, the statement partly read.
