They also protested against the continued disappearance of the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Donald Nwochi and other residents of the community in the past two years without trace.

Protests have erupted in the Ozalla Community in Nkanu West local government area of Enugu State.

The community, on Wednesday protested against the assassination of their son and the governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Dons Udeh penultimate Saturday.

They also protested against the continued disappearance of the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Donald Nwochi and other residents of the community in the past two years without trace.

It had been reported that the traditional ruler of the community was kidnapped in his hotel on December 24, 2021 and hasn’t been seen then despite family paying N5million ransom.

SaharaReporters had reported that the lifeless and decomposing body of Udeh, an engineer and former Enugu State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before he defected to APGA to pursue his political ambition to become the governor of Enugu State in the March 18 governorship election was found at 9th Mile Bypass in Udi Local Government Area, on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

However, residents of the community who took to the streets of Enugu State capital with placards demanded the state government and security agencies to fish out the killers of their son.

The residents who adorned in black attires carried placards with various inscriptions such as: “save Ozallans from abductors and killers.” “Our government can save us please help!” “Stop kidnapping and killings of Ozallans. Enough is enough!” “Ozalla bleeds! #Justice for Dons.”

Addressing some journalists at Okpara square, the President General of Ozalla Development Union, Chief Charles Nwagbara said that the abduction and killing of Dons Udeh is killing too many.

According to him the community received the report of the sudden disappearance of Udeh on Saturday, April 22, 2023 and they were praying and hoping that he would returned to us alive.

“Unfortunately, on Tuesday 25, we received another shocking news of his death with his body already decomposing miles away from his residents.”

Nwagbara appealed to the government of Enugu State on behalf of Ozalla community to ensure a thorough investigation of his abduction and assassination, and to bring perpetrators to justice.

The protesters matched to government House and State Police headquarters where they delivered protest letters to the governor and the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ammani.
