Real Madrid’s Bizarre Gym Sessions Might Explain Why They Have So Many Injury Problems

Real Madrid‘s luck in the injury department went from bad to worse this week when it was announced that Eden Hazard would miss ‘up to six weeks’ of action with a thigh problem.

The injury-prone Belgian has struggled for minutes since joining the club from Chelsea, and this latest blow is just one of nine knocks the player has suffered during a torrid spell at Los Blancos.

To put his injury hell into context, the 30-year-old winger has missed a total of 283 days since arriving at The Bernabeu in 2019, missing 48 games in all competitions as a result.

It is being reported that Hazard injured a muscle in his left thigh following a routine training session. In fact, he missed the previous day too because of muscle fatigue.

Real Madrid, who have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions, are also set to be without Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Federico Valverde and Lucas Vazquez for their trip to Huesca on Saturday.

And while many have spoken about Madrid’s injury woes in recent months, Hazard’s latest problem has sparked even more discussion amongst supporters, with some even bringing up old footage from club training sessions.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Real Madrid have been plagued by injuries in a campaign.

Back in September 2019, Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane blamed a growing fixture list for the club’s ongoing injury crisis, with Marco Asensio, Ferland Mendy and Luka Jovic out on the sidelines.

Luka Modric, James Rodriguez and that man Hazard were also injured at the time, as well as Marcelo and Thibaut Courtois, but was a busy schedule to blame?

The below clip from a Madrid training session may suggest otherwise. Here you can see Karim Benzema and Luka Modric performing a bizarre leg press routine, and many have questioned the technique used.

Thoughts on Hazard’s ongoing injury problems? Are those training drills in the gym really helping?
