In a tragic incident, bandits launched a violent attack on St. Raphael Catholic Church in Fadan Kamantan, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, resulting in the untimely death of a promising seminarian, Naam Stephen Ngofe Danlami. The attack occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, and had devastating consequences for the church community.

The assailants, identified as bandits, targeted the parish house during their assault and deliberately set it ablaze, along with a parked vehicle on the premises. The chaotic and terrifying ordeal left the entire parish in a state of shock and distress.

Tragically, seminarian Naam Stephen Ngofe Danlami lost his life during the attack. Reports indicate that he succumbed to the smoke he inhaled while attempting to escape from the clutches of the attackers. His death has left the local community and the Catholic Church community deeply saddened.

The Acting Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mansir Alhassan, confirmed the harrowing incident in an official statement. The statement acknowledged the violence and the tragic loss of life that resulted from the attack.

Additionally, Very Rev Fr Emmanuel Okolo, the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, narrowly escaped harm, along with his assistant, during the terrifying attack. Their safety, however, does not diminish the gravity of the incident.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State also verified the incident and expressed their condolences. They highlighted that the deceased seminarian, Naam Stephen Ngofe Danlami, was on the verge of completing his training for the Catholic priesthood, adding to the sense of loss and sorrow within the community.
