“She wants me to stop talking against husband snatchers” — Rita Edochie speaks as she appears in court over the ₦1bn lawsuit filed against her by Judy Austin

The hearing of the case between actresses, Judy Austin and Rita Edochie came up today, September 29, at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

In July, Judy Austin filed a N1 billion defamation suit against Rita Edochie. In a Writ of Summons, Judy accused Rita of defamation and asked the court to compel her to pay her N1 billion in general damages, compel Rita to publish a full and unreserved retraction and apology in at least two widely circulated national newspapers and across her social media platforms, remove all alleged defamatory statements about her from all online platforms, refrain from further publishing or circulating statements allegedly defamatory of her, and pay N50 million as costs of prosecuting the suit.

While in court this morning, Rita said she is not in any way scared of the suit. According to her, she teaches morals on her page, and one such discussion she had was on women who ‘’snatch’ other women’s husbands. 

She said Judy wants her to stop talking about ‘’husband’ snatchers’ and is seeking N1 billion in damages from her.
