So-Safe Arrests Bricklayer For Attacking Okada Rider, Hijacking Bike In Ogun

Shakiru Bello, a 29-year-old bricklayer, has been arrested by the Ogun State-owned Social Orientation and Safety (So-Safe) Corps.

He was arrested for allegedly attacking a commercial motorcyclist and carting away his bike.

Bello, who was said to have disguised as a passenger, was arrested on Friday following a complaint by the victim simply identified as Abel.

The suspect had hired Abel to transport him on bike to Agobaba, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun.

According to a statement by the So-Safe Corps spokesperson, Moruf Yusuf, the robbery suspect, who resides at Penpe in Owode Yewa, had confessed to the crime.

During preliminary investigation, the bricklayer had confessed that “he stopped the motorcyclist to take him as a passenger to Agobaba Area, and the motive was to snatch the bike from him.”

According to Yusuf, the suspect explained how he directed the bike man to take him towards a new site, at a house being built by his friend.

“On getting there, he picked a shovel kept by the side of the building and hit it against the motorcyclist’s head with the intention to kill him. He then went away with his bike,” it was said.

The victim, who also lives in Agobaba, told the corps that he pretended to have died after the attack.

However, after the suspect had left with his motorcycle, “he managed to contact the So-Safe office for help.“

Upon the report, the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, was said to have directed his men to go after the suspect and he was arrested with the stolen bike.

DAILY POST learnt that the suspect and the Bajaj motorcycle had been transferred to the Owode-Egbado divisional police headquarters as directed by Commander, Ganzallo.
