“Sowore don faint oooo” — Protesters cry out as Sowore faints after police tear-gas demonstrators in Abuja

A wave of concern swept through a protest in Abuja on Thursday after human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, reportedly collapsed during a demonstration in the Federal Capital Territory.

The protest, which focused on insecurity and other pressing national issues, was briefly thrown into confusion as demonstrators rushed to assist Sowore after he fell unconscious in the crowd.

Eyewitnesses at the scene were heard shouting in panic as protesters gathered around the activist.

In a video circulating on social media, some voices could be heard crying out, “Sowore don faint oooo, they din kpai him oooo,” while others attempted to clear the area and provide assistance.

Protest disrupted as Sowore is evacuated

According to reports from the scene, Sowore was quickly moved away from the protest ground in a vehicle after the incident. The circumstances that led to his reported collapse were not immediately clear.

The demonstration had drawn participants demanding government action on insecurity and other socio-economic challenges affecting Nigerians.

However, the focus shifted momentarily following the unexpected incident involving the activist.
