Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to stabilising governance and reviving the state’s economy, amid ongoing political challenges and economic strain.
In a statement marking the Eid-al-Adha celebration, delivered through his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara called on Muslims in Rivers and beyond to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith.
The governor acknowledged the sacrifices made by the people of Rivers State and recognised that many aspirations remain unmet due to political tensions. However, he insisted that progress is being made.
“He reassured citizens that ongoing steps are being taken to stabilize governance and revive the economy. He pledged that their concerns will be addressed with practical solutions,” the statement added. “The Governor called for continued prayers for the peace and progress of Rivers State, while reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and welfare of all residents.”
“He concluded by wishing the Muslim faithful a joyful and spiritually rewarding Eid celebration.”
President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara as governor of Rivers on March 18, declaring a state of emergency following a prolonged political crisis and attacks on oil installations.
