Media personality Mide Oni has sparked conversations online after advising women not to financially support men in relationships, regardless of the situation.
Speaking on her programme, The Mide Show, she argued that men should be financially independent and avoid relying on women they are dating for money.
She insisted that women should completely refuse any request for financial help from men.
“Please women stop giving men money. There is no circumstance that justifies even giving a man one pea. If a man asks you for money, tell him Mide Oni said there’s no circumstance that justifies giving you one pea,” she said.
Oni also directed her remarks at men, urging them to prioritise hard work and stop depending on women for financial support.
“Go and work, because your mates are working. Do they have two heads? Don’t come and ask me for money,” she stated.
Addressing common criticisms about financial expectations in relationships, she dismissed the idea that partners should automatically support each other with money.
Responding to such views, she added: “And you know, when I said this before, there’ll be men in the comments that say, but why should I not be able to ask the women that I’m dating for money?
“Is it not give and take? Is it not a relationship? Should we not be able to help each other? Sorry, damsel. Sorry, damsel in distress,”
She maintained that men should focus on self-reliance and building their income rather than seeking financial assistance from women they are involved with.
