A US-based Nigerian woman, Oyinna Ogbonna, has advised women to stop having children with poor men.
She stated this in a Facebook post criticising a Nigerian man who posted an unflattering photo of his wife shortly after she delivered a baby.
She accused the man of posting the photos of his newborn son as a proof of his virility instead of focusing on taking care of his wife who she claims appears malnourished, anemic, exhausted and recovering from a major surgical incision.
“This is a clear example of why women need to stop having children with poor men,” she wrote.
“If you look at the pictures here, you’ll see that this man has just bought himself bragging rights to show off that he has fulfilled what he considers the obligations of manhood. He is virile. He has a son—the almighty son.
“Now they are extensions of his ego. The baby is not quite a human being to him yet. Even though it’s a son, the child has more value because he can brag about it.
“But what about the so-called wife? Look at how she is laid out on the bed, her eyes listless. She looks malnourished, like she’s anemic. She doesn’t look like she’s getting enough food. She has a long surgical incision across her stomach, and she looks completely exhausted.
“Yet he posted her looking like a hot mess, lying there with her body exposed for everyone to see, all so he could show off that he has a son.
“But when I say women need to marry up, you all say I’m evil. When I say certain men don’t deserve children, you all say I’m evil.”
