Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has appealed to soccer-loving Nigerians to rally behind Victor Osimhen rather than pile pressure on him.

In an exclusive chat with FCnaija, the former Ocean Boys goalkeeper expressed confidence in Osimhen scoring ability but warned that the former Lille striker will need time to adjust to life in Serie A. He stressed that playing in the Italian Serie A is a different kettle of fish compared to French Ligue 1 given the pedigree of defenders in Italy.Ezenwa maintained that Osimhen is not unaware of the intense pressure that comes with his price tag, but assured Nigerians to expect the best from the former Charleroi forward. ” We just need to stay calm and not put Osimhen under pressure simply because he is yet to open his goal accounts in the Serie A. ” The Italian Serie A is a tough league compared to others and it takes time to settle down in a league as tough as Serie A.

” Osimhen needs our support and I strongly believe he will surely deliver in the coming weeks,” he said. Osimhen fired blank as Hirving Lozano scored twice as Napoli routed Genoa 6-0 Sunday in their Serie A match which had been delayed by a positive coronavirus result.
