Suspected Thug Killed While Attempting to Snatch Ballot Box During Nigerian Presidential Election in Kogi State

During the ongoing Nigerian presidential election, a suspected thug attempting to snatch a ballot box was killed in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. The incident occurred when a group of unidentified men allegedly attempted to disrupt the voting process in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the group of men arrived at a polling station and attempted to snatch a ballot box, but they encountered a few soldiers from the Nigerian Army who were stationed there to maintain security. During the ensuing altercation, one of the suspected thugs, identified as Ojochenemi Akayaba, was killed, while others sustained injuries.

Ojochenemi Akayaba, who had just completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) service a few weeks ago, was allegedly involved in several criminal activities in the area, according to local sources. His death has sparked outrage among some residents, who have accused the Nigerian Army of using excessive force to quell the disturbance.

However, others have praised the Army for their swift action in maintaining peace and order during the election. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of voters and election officials during the ongoing Nigerian presidential election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has yet to release an official statement on the incident, but it is calling on all stakeholders to remain calm and refrain from any actions that could further jeopardize the integrity of the electoral process.

As the Nigerian presidential election continues, it is essential that all stakeholders work together to ensure that the process is free, fair, and transparent. Any attempts to disrupt or interfere with the voting process must be met with the full force of the law, and those responsible for such actions must be held accountable.
