A man has sparked conversation online after sharing his thoughts on staff welfare and salaries in Nigeria.
According to him, many business owners treat employees as expenses instead of investments, paying workers between ₦100,000 and ₦150,000 while expecting full-time commitment, loyalty, and productivity despite the current economic realities.
He argued that if a business cannot afford a full-time employee, owners should consider alternatives such as part-time arrangements, hybrid work, allowances, or reduced workloads instead of demanding full commitment for what he described as survival wages.
The man also pointed out that employees often see when a business is growing through new equipment, renovations, and increased patronage, while their salaries remain unchanged.
He added that workers play a major role in shaping a company’s reputation and urged employers to review staff pay as their income grows, stressing that a successful business is built not only by good staff but also by good employers.
