Toyin Abraham reacts as Bovi recreates viral ‘snub’ moment with Funke Akindele at AMVCA

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has reacted after comedian Bovi Ugboma recreated her viral awkward moment with fellow actress Funke Akindele during the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

While hosting the ceremony alongside South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha, Bovi performed a comedic skit referencing the much-discussed incident from the premiere of The Return of Arinze. Mbatha played Funke Akindele, while Bovi acted as Toyin Abraham in the humorous reenactment.

The joke drew laughter from the audience, including Toyin Abraham herself, who was seen in a viral clip chatting and laughing with Bovi during the event.

She said that she knew the comedian would use it to crack a joke.

The Akindele Snub

The original incident occurred at the premiere of a movie by Iyabo Ojo, where Funke Akindele appeared to ignore Toyin Abraham’s greeting while seated with Iyabo Ojo and Mercy Aigbe.

The moment stirred widespread reactions online, with many social media users describing it as embarrassing.

Following the incident, Toyin publicly expressed displeasure and stated that she would no longer greet Funke Akindele, adding that she had also unfollowed her on social media.
