TRANSFER NEWS:- Sancho’s Utd Move ‘Depends On Outcome Of City’s Appeal Against Two-Year Ban’

The prospect of Jadon Sancho moving to Manchester United this summer reportedly depends on the outcome of Manchester City’s appeal against their two-year ban from European competition.

City were dealt the ban after breaking Financial Fair Play regulations, but have appealed the UEFA decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The absence of City in the Champions League could mean fifth in the Premier League receives a spot in the competition, which not only would give United a £50m boost to the finances, it’d also mean Sancho could continue playing in Europe’s premier club competition.

The report in The Mirror states that in order to facilitate a £100m-plus move for the 20-year-old, United would need Champions League football in order to strengthen Ed Woodward’s hand when negotiating with Dortmund.

The Bundesliga side have entertained selling star winger Sancho, but only for the right price.

An expensive deal looks problematic for United after their finances revealed in the week that the club’s debts had risen by almost £130m during the coronavirus crisis.

Following the release of those figures, executive vice-chairman Woodward hinted United would not be so expansive in the transfer market, saying it ‘will not be business as usual’.

However, United remain keen to pursue Sancho, who moved to Germany from rivals City in 2017 for a cut-price £8million.

Sancho was a substitute on Saturday as Dortmund beat Wolfsburg 2-0 in the Bundesliga, coming on to assist his side’s second goal.

The Red Devils currently sit in fifth, as the Premier League builds towards a return to action next month.

City, meanwhile, will attempt to prove their innocence when CAS sits on June 8, 9 and 10 to hear the case against them.
