Unlucky wedding couple crash £240,000 Ferrari Spider they hired to celebrate big day

Usman Ali, 25, who works as a tyre fitter for his father’s garage, is understood to have put down a £5,000 deposit to use the Ferrari 458 Spider for his wedding weekend.

But on Sunday, the day after the wedding, his foot apparently tripped on the car mat and he pressed the accelerator rather than the brake as he arrived at his friend’s house ahead of further celebrations of his nuptials with wife Sakina Parveen.

The luxury car – which can go from 0 to 60mph in just three seconds – shot forward and smashed
into the front of a terraced house.

According to friends, the crash could cost Mr Ali around £25,000 – with £5,000 lost on the deposit and a £20,000 excess.

Neighbours on the street in Burnley, Lancashire, watched as Mr Ali somehow emerged unscathed out of the wrecked Italian supercar, which had been worth nearly five times more than their own houses.

The Ferrari – which has a top speed of 210mph – is reportedly owned by Birmingham-based Platinum Executive Travel, which is run by Aleem Iqbal and his father.

Aleem Iqbal
A friend of Mr Ali, who still lives with his father in their £55,000 family home, said he was a car fanatic who owns a Golf GTI, and rented the supercar for his wedding.
He said:
‘He’s a good lad and he works hard, but I don’t think he had enough experience driving this sort of car. It’s a rear-wheel drive and has 500 or so horsepower, so it’s not easy to get the hang of straight away.

‘He’d put a £5,000 deposit on it and there’s going to be a hefty excess to pay. He lives in a large Muslim community and they always seem to rent fancy cars for big events.

‘I went to one and they’d rented out a stretch limo and two Bentleys. Luckily they didn’t crash any of those.’But Aleem Iqbal, 21, who runs the company with his father Saleem, tweeted that he expected to have the vehicle ‘back on the road in three weeks’.

He added: ‘
Thanks for all the kind messages. I wasn’t at the wheel, and nobody was injured that’s the main thing, have had a lot worse in this business.’

Within a five-week period in 2014 more than £500,000 worth of Platinum Executive Travel’s supercars were destroyed in two suspected arson attacks.

Mr Iqbal leased out a new £340,000 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster for a wedding, but it was firebombed hours later outside a house in Luton.

The Solihull-based teenager, who goes by the name ‘Lord Aleem’ on Twitter and Facebook, later said the attack was a ‘vile act of jealousy’ targeting the wedding family.

But he refused to comment after three more luxury cars, worth £200,000, were also targeted in a suspected arson attack near the firm in Yardley.

Two Audi R8 Spyder supercars and a Bentley Flying Spur were destroyed in the fire in June 2014.
