Update: Student assaulted by his lecturer in OAU shares his own side of the story

The student who was assaulted by a lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University on Wednesday, November 8, has come out to share his own side of the story.

A video of the lecturer, Dr Ariyo, of the Department of Electrical Engineering, ordering the student to turn off his phone and afterwards pushing the student after he refused to comply, got many social media users talking.

While some slammed the student for disrespecting the lecturer, others criticized the lecturer for reacting the way he did.

In a series of posts shared on X today, the young man claimed he mistakenly entered the lecturer’s class and that when he discovered, he excused himself. He said the lecturer afterwards called for him and when he entered the class, the lecturer accused him of impersonation and demanded that he surrendered his phone, to which he refused.
