The people of Effium autonomous community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State were on Sunday thrown into mourning following the murder of a blind woman in the area, Helen Anyigor by the son of her landlord, Emmanuel Ogbonna for refusing to honour a quit notice served her over her inability to pay her house rent.

Anyigor, popularly known as ‘Mama Arinze’, and her co-tenants were issued with the quit notice to vacate their rooms following their inability to pay their rents.

While others left, Anyigor refused to do so, a situation that got the son of her landlord, Emmanuel Ogbonna, angry.

Ogbonna was said to have severally warned her to leave their compound but the woman kept complaining of lack of money to clear her rent and pleaded to be given time to raise the money.
