Nigerian Striker Faces Critical Decision as 2025/26 Season Hangs in the Balance.

Victor Boniface, the Nigerian striker on loan at Werder Bremen, is at a pivotal moment in his career after both Werder and parent club Bayer Leverkusen agreed that he requires knee surgery to address persistent injury problems, according to sportblits.com.

The 25‑year‑old forward has endured a tough spell in the Bundesliga, failing to score in 11 appearances for Bremen this season, with his campaign disrupted by recurring knee issues that have sidelined him ahead of the winter break.

🩺 Key Points:

• Both Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen agree Boniface needs surgery to fix his knee problems — a decision now in the player’s hands.
• If he opts for the operation, it is expected to end his season early and may trigger a return to Leverkusen for rehabilitation.
• Even if he chooses not to undergo surgery, Bremen reportedly will not play him again due to the high risk of further injury.
• Boniface is currently in Nigeria for the holidays and is expected to return to Germany soon for talks with both clubs.

This development marks a challenging period for the Super Eagles forward, whose promising career trajectory, including key contributions at Bayer Leverkusen is now overshadowed by fitness concerns.
