Werner Breaks Terry’s UCL Goal Record As Chelsea Hold Zenit, Lose Top Spot To Juve

A late strike from Magomed Ozdoev saw Zenit snatch a 3-3 home draw against Chelsea, in Wednesday’s Group H Champions League clash.

The draw means Chelsea lose top spot to Juventus, who pipped Swedish side Malmo.

Timo Werner scored two goals and assisted Romelu Lukaku for Chelsea’s other goal.

The fixture saw Werner whose goal in one minute 22 seconds is the fastest ever scored by a Chelsea player in the Champions League.

Also, he has now overtaken Blues legend John Terry, who netted in one minute and 26 seconds against FC Schalke in November 2014.

Juve finished top with 15 points with Chelsea second on 13 points while Zenit and Malmo on five and one points, ended third and fourth  respectively.

Chelsea will now face either Real Madrid, Bayern, Ajax or the winners of Group G in the round of 16.

The reigning Champions League holders got off to the perfect start after Werner opened scoring in the second minute.

Zenit equalised on 38 minutes through Claudinho while Sardar Azmoun put the home team 2-1 ahead on 41 minutes.

Lukaku levelled the score in the 62nd minute before Werner got his second of the game, to make it 3-2.

But four minutes in added time, Ozdoev grabbed a late equaliser to end the tie three all.
