Woman recounts how husband tricked her into returning to Nigeria from the UK (video)

A Nigerian woman has recounted how her marriage allegedly collapsed after her husband returned to the United Kingdom (UK) without informing her, leaving her and their children in Nigeria.

Narrating her experience, the woman explained that they moved to the UK in 2022 as a family of four, with her husband as the main applicant on a student visa and her and their children as dependents.

According to her, they had agreed that she would contribute part of her earnings towards his tuition fees. She also claimed she paid household bills, bought groceries, supported the family financially and contributed towards his first car.

However, she alleged that their relationship deteriorated when her husband began complaining that she prioritised work over the family. She also accused him of repeatedly reminding her that he brought her to the UK whenever they argued.

“Anytime we have an argument, he always reminds me how he brought me to the UK, saying I’m ungrateful and not appreciative,” she recounted.

The woman explained that they travelled to Nigeria in September last year after her husband proposed enrolling their daughter in a boarding school to improve her Islamic education.

After visiting the school in Ibadan, she travelled with the children to Osun State to see her parents. On returning, she noticed that her husband’s Nigerian number was no longer reachable.

She later learnt that he had returned to the UK without informing her. According to her, he subsequently sent WhatsApp messages declaring their marriage over, followed by a disappearing document stating that they had divorced by mutual agreement.

“I had never signed any divorce papers,” she explained, expressing shock at the document.

The woman further alleged that her husband removed her and the children from his visa, leaving her with unanswered questions about their marriage and their future.
