Woman shares how taking pre-wedding photos nearly caused her church to cancel her wedding

A woman has lent her voice to the conversation around the strict rules certain church denominations have for intending brides. 

Amid the conversations about the wedding gown rules Deep Life Bible Church has for brides, another conversation has come up, which is the prohibition of pre-wedding photos. 

Sharing her experience, Oluwatunmise Ruth took to Facebook to narrate how she posed for “innocent” pre-wedding photos with her fiancé, only to immediately receive a warning to take the photos down when she posted it online.

She did not mention the name of the church that made the rule.

She wrote: “The two innocent pictures I posted on Facebook that year as our prewedding pictures, and before I could even drop my phone, I received an IMMEDIATE phone call asking me to take it down before they saw it and CANCELLED the wedding! I just kukuma delete am gently 

“As in, they said we weren’t supposed to see each other or go out before the wedding, except in church, and even then, an elderly church leader had to be present with us! 

“No medical tests were conducted to check compatibility o! Nobody asked us to go for any tests. No genotype test, no blood group test, no screening for infections, NOTHING! Na we carry ourselves by ourselves go the hospital to do the necessary tests. 

“How I wish some churches could review their doctrines from time to time and pay more attention to things that genuinely matter to the well being of the couples they’re preparing for marriage. Like marriage classes to prepare them mentally and emotionally for the journey ahead, the medical test and above all the spiritual aspect. 

“Omo, WE SAW SHEGE THAT YEAR SHA! BUT ALL THANKS TO GOD.” 
 

She previously stated how her church also found fault with her wedding gown because it looked “worldly”, according to them.
