Workers at the ongoing construction site of the Rivers State House of Assembly have reportedly halted work over low wages, demanding an increment above the ₦4,000 daily pay.
This was revealed in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @ChuksEricE, which showed several workers gathered outside the assembly complex, refusing to resume work until they speak directly with the engineers.
In the video, the workers were seen protesting and chanting, insisting they wouldn’t continue with the construction until their demands were met.
According to the post, the engineers allegedly declined to meet the workers and instead sent a representative — a move the workers rejected.
The voice behind the camera explained the situation: “They’re protesting. They said they’re not working because of the low wages. They’re being paid ₦4,000 daily for the project. The engineers are not responding. House of Assembly, Rivers State, Port Harcourt.”
He added, “Workers say they’re not working. They’re tired.”
As the clip circulated online, it drew numerous reactions from concerned individuals who stormed the comment section to air their views.
