Yaya Toure Removed From Soccer Aid Line-Up After Sending ‘Inappropriate WhatsApp Message’

Yaya Toure has reportedly been removed from this year’s star-studded Soccer Aid line-up after sending an inappropriate message in the WhatsApp group chat containing players and coaches from both the England and Rest of the World squad.

As per The Sun, The Ivorian posted an explicit, pornographic video of a naked woman in a bath and then followed it up by stating he could bring 19 girls to the five-star Cheshire hotel both teams are staying at ahead of the game at Old Trafford.

Essentially offering to provide sex workers for teammates, Toure’s messages on Thursday night brought a string of complaints from footballers and celebrities alike.

Female footballers Julie Fleeting, Lianne Sanderson and Chelcee Grimes are all involved in this year’s charity event and were in the chat, while a “furious” David James and other players are said to have reported the former Manchester City midfielder to ITV, the long-time broadcaster for the fixture.

Toure, who is married to wife Gina and has three children, deleted the content before issuing an apology for his conduct but will not be making his second Soccer Aid appearance this Sunday.

A spokesman for Soccer Aid told The Sun: “Inappropriate content was shared in a private group text. The message was quickly deleted and a full apology was made to all.

“Soccer Aid for Unicef has discussed the above with the individual involved and he has decided to no longer continue to participate in this year’s event.

“While it was an error of judgment, it was felt that the behaviour didn’t align with the values of the event and its cause, and it was the right thing for him to step back from this year’s match.”

It has also been noted that those involved in Soccer Aid are adhering to strict COVID-19 restrictions so no girls would have been able to end up in the team hotel.

This year’s game is taking placed behind-closed-doors and will see England and Manchester United’s record goalscorer Wayne Rooney make his managerial debut.

Rooney is co-managing the Three Lions side alongside Sam Allardyce.
