“You’re asking a 24-year-old man for house in Lekki when your father never moulded one block at 70” – Man tackles dating expectations

A man has sparked reactions online after criticising what he described as unrealistic dating expectations placed on young men by some women.

Speaking in a video, he questioned why a 23-year-old woman would expect a 24-year-old man to already own a house in Lekki or even in the village, while claiming that “your father did not mould one block at 70.”

He also called on women who are doing well in their careers and lives to speak up, arguing that unhealthy narratives around relationships are becoming louder online.

According to him, he worries about raising a daughter in today’s Nigeria where young women are constantly exposed to messages suggesting men must meet high financial standards before being considered worthy of relationships.

He urged women he described as “good women” to speak up more, saying their silence makes harmful narratives appear to be the majority voice.
