Youths In Aba Stage Protests Demanding An End To Ebubeagu Militia in Igboland

The protesters alleged that members of the security outfit have repeatedly engaged in extrajudicial killings and that it is time for them to be disbanded.

Residents of Aba in Abia state have staged a protest calling for the end of Ebubeagu militia in the state

The youths were seen carrying placards with the inscription ”End Ebubeagu in Igboland’ while marching through streets.

The residents called on the state government to scrap the security outfit created by the South East governors in April 2021 to specifically secure lives and properties in the region.

The protesters alleged that members of the security outfit have repeatedly engaged in extrajudicial killings and that it is time for them to be disbanded.

Recall that in July, youths in two local governments in Imo state took to the street to also call for the scrapping of the security outfits after some of its personnel were accused of killing eight wedding guests.
