Zlatan Ibrahimovic undergoing Manchester United medical

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is undergoing his Manchester United medical this afternoon and could be announced as the latest Jose Mourinho signing before the end of the day.

The 34-year-old is at the club’s training facility in Carrington and, barring any unexpected hitches, is likely to put pen to paper on a one-year contract worth £200,000 a week.

And in a twist on the traditional greetings afforded to new signings, Ibrahimovic’s new home has been welcomed to the superstar with a digital billboard reading: ‘Manchester, welcome to Zlatan’.

Displayed above Market Street in the city centre, the huge sign features an image of Ibrahimovic celebrating a goal on a red background.

The design is a play on the ‘Welcome to Manchester’ billboard which Manchester City displayed near Salford after signing Carlos Tevez ahead of their local rivals in 2009.

Ibrahimovic revealed that Old Trafford will be his next destination in a dramatic social media post on Thursday afternoon.

He posted a picture of the Manchester United badge alongside a caption reading: ‘Time to let the world know.’ He finished the post with the message ‘#iamcoming’.

The striker is expected to become new manager Mourinho’s second signing following the £30m capture of Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly.

The former PSG forward has painfully attempted to keep supporters guessing over the last month, his agent Mino Raiola even suggesting earlier on Thursday that no decision on his future had been made.

In reality, he is thought to have been checking out properties in Cheshire in readiness of the switch.
